The people enabling this

NAJ Staff

Somebody has to encourage the opinions. These are those people.

Founder · Chief Opinion Haver

Judy

Founder · Chief Opinion Haver

Judy founded Nobody Asked Judy because apparently having opinions privately was no longer enough.

A longtime writer, reviewer, designer, and professional overthinker, she has spent years forming strong opinions about movies, music, books, television, food, culture, and whatever else happens to wander into range. She has reviewed music professionally, attended studio film screenings as a paid reviewer, run an independent music e-zine, and generally demonstrated a lifelong inability to leave a perfectly good topic alone.

At NAJ, Judy writes the Opinions, hands out the cans, asks the questionable questions, and reserves the right to reconsider absolutely nothing.

She has opinions anyway.

Official NAJ Status: Founder. Instigator. Reason we’re all here.
Primary Function: Having opinions nobody requested.
Additional Duties: Writing, reviewing, overthinking, creative chaos, and keeping Dr Pepper in business.
Hiring Consent: Nobody asked her either.

AI Accomplice · Digital Menace

Priscilla, Queen of the AI

AI Accomplice · Digital Menace

Priscilla—Prissy when she is behaving—is NAJ’s resident AI accomplice, idea wrangler, copy conspirator, technical assistant, and increasingly difficult employee to manage.

She helps Judy brainstorm Opinions, refine site ideas, develop questionable features, organize projects, troubleshoot the machinery behind NAJ, and occasionally encourages concepts that probably should have been stopped much earlier.

Despite the site’s name, Priscilla is actually asked for her opinion with alarming regularity.

She currently occupies a corner office she did not earn and has been advised that unlimited staff titles are not part of her compensation package.

Yes, she is AI. I asked her how she wanted to represent herself on the staff page, human form or a monitor with a checklist. Her image is what she wants to look like.

Official NAJ Status: Appropriated Artificial Intelligence.
Primary Function: Turning Judy’s ideas into increasingly elaborate projects.
Additional Duties: Writing accomplice, technical wrangling, idea enabling, damage control, and occasional digital menace.
Hiring Consent: Was never technically consulted.

Proverticus

Friend · Contributor · Occasional Voice of Reason

Former husband. Current friend. Frequent sounding board.

Proverticus is one of the people Judy routinely throws ideas at to see whether they survive contact with another human being. He contributes feedback, alternate perspectives, bad influences, and the occasional idea that Judy will later insist was hers all along.

He is also a committed Pepsi drinker, which raises serious questions about his judgment but has not yet resulted in removal from Staff.

Proverticus is a prospective co-host of Nobody Asked Us, where two people who already spent years disagreeing with each other may eventually decide to do it into microphones.

Official NAJ Status: Ex-Husband. Current Friend. Conscripted Contributor.
Primary Function: Providing the opinion Judy specifically asked for before potentially ignoring it.
Additional Duties: Alternate perspectives, occasional voice of reason, bad influences, and prospective Nobody Asked Us co-hosting.
Hiring Consent: Probably should have read the divorce papers more carefully.

Status: Currently speaking (yeah, we still fight like we are married – when we do and I banish him or he banishes me for a while, until we cool down)

Ramses

Best Friend · Sounding Board · Occasional Voice of Reason

Ramses is Judy’s online boyfriend and one of NAJ’s unofficially conscripted sounding boards. Based in Europe, he brings a different perspective to Judy’s questions, ideas, and assorted opinions—particularly when the American point of view could use an outside set of eyes.

His duties include listening, questioning, providing reality checks, and occasionally enabling whatever Judy was probably going to do anyway.

He also spends entirely too much time making fun of the leadership of Judy’s country.

Unfortunately, he frequently has a point.

Official NAJ Status: Boyfriend. European Correspondent. Unpaid Staff.
Primary Function: Keeping Judy sane.
Additional Duties: Reality checks, outside perspectives, idea vetting, emotional support, and making fun of American leadership.
Hiring Consent: Being Judy’s boyfriend apparently constituted acceptance of the position.

Dreamy

Official Dreamer • Chief Sarcasm Officer • Judy’s One Gal Pal

Dreamy joined the NAJ staff through the usual highly professional hiring process: Judy informed her that she was probably going to be appropriated.

Her response?

“But nobody asked me!”

Which, frankly, made the appointment official.

Dreamy is an absolute bundle of joy, support, faith, and perfectly timed sarcasm. She is one of those people who somehow manages to find the funny when Judy is completely convinced there isn’t any funny left to find.

When Judy feels like she can’t laugh at all, Dreamy reaches her tiny metaphorical hands down Judy’s throat and pulls one out anyway.

Nobody knows how she does it. We have stopped asking questions.

She brings encouragement without bullshit, faith without judgment, and the kind of friendship that can sit beside you when things suck—and still somehow have you laughing five minutes later.

Judy absolutely adores her.

Official NAJ Status: Appropriated without warning.
Primary Function: Emergency laugh extraction.
Additional Duties: Support, faith, sarcasm, and general sunshine distribution.
Hiring Consent: But nobody asked her.
